ACA Launches Four New Memory & Support Cafés Across Armenia

Alzheimer’s Care Armenia (ACA) is proud to announce the launch of four new Memory & Support Cafés, expanding our commitment to ensuring that older adults and families living with dementia have access to connection, support, and hope in their own communities.

With the opening of new cafés in Dilijan, Syunik, Vayots Dzor, and Aragatsotn, ACA now operates 11 Memory & Support Cafés across Armenia. These welcoming community spaces provide older adults with opportunities to socialize, engage in meaningful activities, stimulate cognitive health, and build lasting friendships while reducing loneliness and isolation.

The Memory & Support Café model is built on the belief that every older adult deserves to age with dignity, purpose, and belonging. Each weekly gathering includes engaging activities such as brain games, music, art, gentle movement, discussion groups, and health education, all led by trained facilitators in a warm and supportive environment. Family caregivers also benefit by connecting with others facing similar challenges and gaining valuable education and encouragement.

The launch of these four new cafés marks another important milestone in ACA’s mission to transform dementia care throughout Armenia. As the country continues implementing its National Dementia Plan, community-based programs like the Memory & Support Cafés play a vital role in promoting healthy aging, reducing stigma, supporting caregivers, and improving quality of life for older adults.

The photo below captures one of our newest Memory & Support Cafés as participants gather for their first meeting—already demonstrating the sense of connection, warmth, and community that these programs foster.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Armenian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), whose generous support has made this expansion possible. Their partnership is helping bring compassionate, evidence-based dementia support to more communities throughout Armenia.

Together, we are creating a future where no one faces dementia or aging alone.
