The Healthy Aging Memory Club is modeled after Dr. Mahakian’s work in the United States. The first Healthy Aging Memory Club launched in 2019 at Orran in Vanadzor. This was a collaboration with Worcester Polytechnic Institute students and Orran. This project formed the groundwork to launch several other Healthy Aging Memory Clubs in Armenia, including Nork Old Age Home and Mission Armenia. The facilitators of the Memory Club are psychologists and social workers This was the first of its kind in Armenia and introduced healthy brain activities and education to people with memory loss. Alzheimer’s Care Armenia’s pioneering work in Armenia is a role model for other organizations and institutions who recently started to focus on care of the elderly.
